Charles Coe

Poet and writer Charles Coe is author of two books of poetry: All Sins Forgiven: Poems for my Parents and Picnic on the Moon, both published by Leapfrog Press. His poetry and prose has appeared in a number of literary reviews and anthologies. He is author of Spin Cycles, a short novel published by Gemma Media.

Charles is the winner of a fellowship in poetry from the Massachusetts Cultural Council. Charles was selected by the Associates of the Boston Public Library as a “Boston Literary Light for 2014.” He has been invited to serve a three-year term as an Artist Fellow for the St. Botolph Club, an organization that supports arts and humanities in Greater Boston.

He teaches poetry and prose in a wide variety of settings, including grade schools, high schools, colleges, writing conferences and workshops. He served as poet-in-residence at Wheaton College in October of 2014 and at the Chautauqua Institution in July of 2016.

Charles is co-chair of the Boston Chapter of the National Writers Union, a labor union for freelance writers. In February of 2015, he retired after eighteen years with the Massachusetts Cultural to concentrate full-time on writing and teaching.

Charles is a jazz vocalist who has performed and recorded throughout New England. He also plays  and teaches the didgeridoo.
